Quick question,

If I were to miss a day on the creatine maintenance (5gms), is it that big of a deal. Should I double up the next day?

thanks

Very good question. I've been meaning to ask it myself. When I have missed taking creatine I usually just take it three times the next day, or if I miss it completely four times. Is this pointless?

brett - just my opinion but I don't think you need to play catch up. I'm probably one of the few that doesn't even take it on off work-out days and I'm happy with the gains when I'm taking it.

Me too. I don't know 'for sure' whether this is the right approach, but I don't play catch up and haven't had any set bcaks as a result.

No need to play "catchup." Just make sure you take in between 5-10g per day and you'll be fine.

i dont think a "catch-up" day is necessary either. when i have used it in the past, i would only take it on the days that i lifted (3-4 a week) and it worked great.

I also read an article written by Lee Labrada on creatine loading. He states that it is a waste of money and that taking 5-10g per day is sufficient. I've not really noticed any difference when I loaded vs. not (which I've done recently) so he may be right...

Anyone else have any thoughts or experience on this?

Robert - I didn't save the magazine but I read in (I think) Health and Fitness, a study that said it took almt 3 days for your body to adjust to a lack of supplementation of creatine. That's about the time that I decided to lay off on non work-out days and I couldn't tell a bit of difference. Not very scientific, but ...

Thanks for the info guys, I didn't think it was a big deal. I usually don't miss a day and I really don't feel a difference when I do, just thought I'd see what everyone else thought. Hey Rpacheco....I usually don't take a loading dose when I supplement with creatine, I definitely find that it is a waste of money. I get the same results with just taking the 5-10gms a day right from the start. The theory behind the "loading" is that it is supposed to saturate the muscles quicker, but just have some patience and they will be well saturated within probably two weeks with just the maintenence dose.
