Yes, take as normal...5-10 grams per day should be all you need.-------------- **_Robert_** Pain is temporary; glory is forever! |

Is it really necessary to take creatine? I use protein powder only, because I've heard that young people have already enough creatine produced by their own body... |

Creatine does not work for everybody. So, no...you don't have to take it.-------------- **_Robert_** Pain is temporary; glory is forever! |

Yes, creatine should be taken everyday. I personally recommend 3-5 grams daily as the newer creatine studies indicate as much. I don't necessarily agree with the statement that young people have more creatine than old people. Creatine is not a hormone whose levels decline with age (like DHEA or GH or testosterone). Much of the creatine in our bodies comes from food. As for creatine working for everyone, this depends on many factors: quality of the creatine (are you really getting creatine or cheap crap); how much creatine your body already has in stores; how quickly your body uses up creatine; etc. As rpacheco says though, you don't have to take creatine. |

So are you saying I can get the same results without creatine? |

How long have you been working out? If you haven't been at it for some time, why not hold off until you plateau. Then try a cycle and see if it helps you. I have been working out for years, with no supplementation other than protein shakes. This year I joined ft and began using creatine and a few other supps and in combination with eating better than ever, have gained 16 pounds of mass over the highest weight that I have previously been at (188 to 204).If you use it right when you begin lifting you'll never know what you may have achieved without it, or if it even helped or not. Good luck. -------------- Ischjli "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." -- T. S. Elliot |

Are you happy with the gains that you are making? I mean, is it coming pretty easy or are you frustrated? -------------- Ischjli "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." -- T. S. Elliot |

I have been gaining but I think at a slow paste.I don't know if has any thing to do with my workout routine. I work out two body parts at a time which take me about 60 to 75 minutes to complete. I had a friend tell me I am working out to long , what do you think is he right. Or maybe its just age(35). |

Well, I don't know about the age. I turn 32 in one week and have never felt better. As for the length, as long as your routine doesn't have you doing too many exercises, you are OK. I usually workout about that length of time, including my warmup, so that sounds fine. Unless it's a back or leg day, that usually takes me a little longer as I need more time to rest between sets. Are you following an ft program or have one of your own? How about the eating and rest? Eating has made the biggest difference in my workout by far.-------------- Ischjli "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." -- T. S. Elliot |

by the way ischjli what brand of creatine are you using? And what do you think about the creatine that comes in different flavours. eg cell tech, or creatine blast by interactive. |

Stick to Creapure stamped, plain old white creatine monohydrate powder. These are by far the purest on the market.-------------- **_Robert_** Pain is temporary; glory is forever! |

Hey toolman. I used Cell-Tech until it ran out recently. As I said, I have had wonderful success of late but I also eat a ton and work out hard. So, I don't know how much of it was creatine. It seemed OK to me. However, after reading many posts here, and doing a load of research I am leaning in favor of plain old monohydrate as well. I plan on using Universal's creatine next. Keep us posted. -------------- Ischjli "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." -- T. S. Elliot |

I agree with rpacheco. Creapure is the best, and both Prolab (toolman) and Universal (ischjli) use Creapure. |

I really don't understand the deal with creapure? I know of other companies claiming they have 100% HPLC creatine. Yet you guys say this isn't as pure as the creapure stuff? |
