Just looking for some general guidelines for creatine and protein shakes. I really can't afford more than these two basic supplements, and was wondering if, to begin with, I can expect good gains with them accompanied by a healthy diet and hard training.

1) The general protein intake for gaining muscle is 1 1/2 - 2 grams per lb of body weight, correct?

2) I heard somewhere that mixing protein powders with milk is counterproductive. Is this true? I hope not seeing as how I love milk, it makes delicious vanilla protein shakes, and it's added protein.

3) After the loading phase is it best to take creatine pre or post workout? I have used it before when I used to work out and I got great results, drinking it a few minutes before my workout. Should I use it post workout as well?

4) I know that you need protein after a workout, but how long before a workout shout you try to get some in. And is it better to drink a shake after the workout, or should I try to a can of tuna or a chicken breast?

Thanks alot to anyone with advice.

1) 1 gr. per lb. of bw should suffice.

2) Protein is fine with milk, just wouldn't do it immediately post workout.

3) I am a fan of pre workout, but optimally both would be good.

4) Protein before a workout does not have to be powder. Any animal flesh would do. Have the powder post workout if you can only afford once.
