If using a plain micronized creatine, I would take it about 40 minutes after your first meal. This way if you have carbs in your meal, any little blood sugar increase you get from them will result in having some circulating serum insulin, which will help insure absorbtion of the creatine.
This is on days off of course. On workout days, take it post workout about 20-30 minutes into your post workout shake by itself.

Yeah, I take it post-w/o but don't know why exactly. I know taking it before will cause you to actually use the creatine during workout cause it will be in the bloodstream so the muscles use it up. And that taking it postWO will help in the recovery process but has not been proven to work. So which one is it? It's to expensive to take it before and after. I think before makes more sense. Correct me if i'm worng, plz.

It refuels the creratine stores, causing the muscles to absorb more water, which in turn flushes out lactic acid and junk........I think anyways but don't quote me on it.

The main function of creatine is to provide our muscles with more energy. More energy means that our muscles can contract harder therefore our body must adapt to the greater amount of stress that we put our bodies through. It super hydrates our muscles and improves protein synthesis.

Doing it before or after should be fine, but after will help replenish stores. If you are loaded, anything past about 5 gr. will just be excreted as a waste product creatinine. So, post workout is very beneficial to as mentioned replenish stores.

Thanks for clearing it up for us all. Didn't know about the protein synthesis, I learned something new. :)
I would just like to add then creatine is better absorbed when it comes in a pill. They pills are specially made to burst at the right moment to get it to your muscles as fast as possible whereas creatine powder taken with water will excreted a lot of it. Note: This may not be a fact. I still use the powder though cuz it comes in flavors and get's me to drink that extra amount of water I need.

Ok, I was wrong. Effervescent formulas is the quickest way to get it into the blood stream. But once in the blood the uptake rate to the muscle is always the same. Everything else will go at the same speed.

All creatine pills are useless. Always opt for micronized. The effervescent formulas have not been shown to be any better at uptake than regular powdered creatine.

Besides, anyone like that bloating feeling? And don't shake it up!! The finer the particle, the easier it is absorbed. This is why micronized creatine is so good. If you time it correctly with insulin response, it will be driven into the muscle just fine.

Micronized. Check.
I just started using 5-CreaCyamine by Iron-Tek. Anyone tried it? It's got a good fruity taste to it. Is 8g an ok amount of sugar?

There is a lot of debate on the efficiency of uploading with creatine. You hear one person say you need the heavy glucose to upload properly and then others say you are better off just taking the pure form in a little juice. Any opinions on that?

I don't think it's so much what your mixing your creatine with. It's just that you do need glucose/carbs after workingout. And Juice is a good way to get some sugar in your body for post workout to give you some energy back. Creatine uploading wil remain the same. I'm not 100% sure on this. But, Makes sense?

I got a question too...Is it okay to take your protein shake right after I take my creatine post-workout? Or should I take my creatine then wait like 30 minutes and then take my protein shake?

From what I had read the best choice was to take your protein shake and your creatine both prior to workout and after. I found it didn't work for me. I wasn't losing weight. What works for me is loading up on my creatine 30 mins prior to my workout and then taking my protein within an hour after my workout along with a dose of creatine. Maybe it was just coincidence, but I started losing weight again when I switched the way I was doing things.

Could someone explain why the pills are considered useless? Wouldn't they allow you to take it in advance of the workout to give time to digest the gel pack in which the creatine is encapsulated?
