By taking one 4-6 week cycle of creatine along with a protein drink how much gain can you expect & will you lose most of it after quitting if that is the only cycle you take? Can you just take 1 cycle or should you use it longer? I have been doing cardio 4 - 5 times a week to get rid of the rest of my gut, will taking creatine prevent me from still losing around my waist while taking it?

Creatine is one of the best supplements on the market. Simply put: it works! First off, taking creatine for 4 weeks then off again is not going to do much for you. You can go for 2 or 3 months without any problem. The actual amount of weight and/or mass you gain depends on you. If you do what you're supposed to do (drink tons of water, eat like a crazed lunatic, etc.), you can really pack on the mass in a short amount of time. However, if you're depending on supplements alone to get you big, you are simply wasting your own time and money.

What's the reason for cycling creatine. I've read that some people never stop taking it, while others take it for 2 months and then take a month off. Does your body really get used to the extra creatine, or is that just a myth?

From what I've read, creatine cycling is a marketing ploy. Take your 5g per day and grunt. It's all good.

Your body can habituate to certain things, like drugs, certain medicines, and supplements. I usually stay on creatine for about 3 months (12 weeks) then I take 2-3 weeks off (taking anymore time off than that will undoubtedly hinder your progress). I've found that I gain just a little bit more everytime I do this. Cycling it like steroids would be worthless.

jbennett has it right listen to him creatine cycles work I know from personal experience. 12 weeks per cycle is optimal then off for three. Try this:
Week 1 - Load 5g four times per day

Sorry got distracted anyway as I was saying
Week 1- Load 5g four times per day
week 2-4 maintenance 5g twice per day (hour before and immed. after workouts)
Week 5- load 5g four times per day\
Week 6-8 maintenance
Next three weeks off then repeat cycle. (Only a suggestion)
Good luck (to settle is to fail)

Cool. Thanks for the input ya'll. I think you are right about the cycling. I'm just about to hit my 2 months of creatine and today at the gym, I wasnt feeling the extra energy I got before when I first started taking creatine.
