Howdy,

I recently started on creatine, and am in my 3rd day of loading (20g per day), and I feel horrible. I have slept badly the last 2 nights. I feel fine, then go to lay down and feel like I am on the verge of vomiting. Are these side effects common for first time users, or something more serious?

What type of creatine are you using?

The purity and size of ccreatine can amke a difference, also - I found a lot on doing a google search:

Are there any side effects?
--Creatine draws water into the muscles. People should expect to gain a few pounds of water weight the first week they take creatine.
--Some people experience stomach upset when creatine is taken without water.
--Cramping is sometimes a problem if people do not drink enough water.

I won't lie... I got the cheapest stuff I could find. It doesn't taste great, but I sprinkle some sugar free kool aid on it and its not so bad. It is 'Body Fortress High Performance Creatine Mix.' I figured creatine is creatine is creatine (except for taste).

Look for some microcrystalized creatine - the smaller the particles the easier to absorb and the less upset.

Also - did you do a fitbuddy search on creatine? i know most questions about it have been addressed at length.

Yes, I searched for keywords 'creatine' and 'sick' but didnt come up with any results similar to my situation. I think I will probably continue use for a few days, and if it does not clear up, discontinue and be more selective the next time I purchase Creatine.

I suggest you take 5g a day...after 30 days it's equivalent to loading for 5 days with 20g...this way you'll put less stress on your kidneys/body...getting stomach pain/diarhea, etc is not uncommon, it could be because it's too high of a dosage for your body...so take less...

This may be a dumb question, but you are not taking all 20 gr. at once, are you?
