I'm looking for a workout program to improve my swing to be able to smash it out the park. I would like to know what muscle groups need the most training and how long is a reasonable time to train for.
There are several muscles at work: forearm, shoulders and abs. As far as a reasonable time frame, it's different for everyone...but you should notice progress after a few weeks (maybe 4+ or so). But, you should also focus on your technique to make sure you are making the most out of each swing.
