My b/f has done something to that nerve, and we were wondering if there was any sort of excersize that he should avoid, or perhaps do.

The sciatic nerve connects the spine to the leg, it runs through the hip bone all the way down to the ankle. Sciatica is an inflamation of the nerve, generally related to issues of the lower spine.

Don't mess around with this - get professional medical help.
I had a herniated disk that affected my left sciatic nerve - fortunately my chiropracter, spinal surgeon, and physical therapist all agreed that specific stretches and physical therapy to strengthen my stomach and lower back were the solution - for me.

Still, it took 8 months to recover - actually I still have residual issues in my left ankle a 1 1/2 later. Nerves take a very long time to heal.

Ive had surgery for a herniated disc 3 times in the past 8 years. On my best day I hurt and cannot sit or stand for very long at a stretch. Be careful with that one. Remember- the sciatic nerve is a real bitch once you pi$$ it off.

Get a massage.
It can grately reduce the pain and inflamation.

I am a massage therapist and I have seen good results.
Find someone you like working with and see them every time
it flairs up.

Trust Me!

I had horrible sciatic problems after childbirth - my chiropractor suggested swimming - specifically the backstroke to help work it out. I didn't find that the usual "cracking" he did helped me out much at all, but it did eventually go away, although it does recur every so often. Nasty pain - he really should get chekced out. Hope this helps :)
