I've been told that a person's body can only absorb about 25 gm of protein per sitting (meal), which is why supplements are good. Can anyone verify this?

I plan on eating 5 to 6 times a day. I don't know how anyone could eat so much. It would take up the whole day. Food would be the only thing you would have time for.

I'm trying to gain mass/weight. Do I really have to reach that 241 gm of protein per day, as the site recommended? I just want to see results. Any comments/suggestions?

Yes, what you have been told is junk information. That is a very old school beleif that needs to be put to rest. Muscle is protein and protein is muscle. It's that simple. And yes, if the site recommends 241 (depending on your bodyweight) grams per day, then you need to AT LEAST get that amount to build any worthy amount of muscle.

Right on dahayz. RocSolid, general rule of thumb is ATLEAST 1 gram of protein per 1 pound of bodyweight. If you are interested in gaining lean muscle mass, then you should consider 1.5 to 2.0 grams of protein per....

Good Luck.

Can someone reccomend some protein supplements (shakes, power bars, etc), that are affordable and tasty?

I just don't eat enough food throughout the day to get all the protein I probably need to build muscle mass. Any suggestions?

I prefer NitroTech for muscle gain, and BioChem Low Carb Smoothie for weight loss.

How is it possible to intake this much protein without supplements? 200+ grams of protein is about 10 cans of Tuna.
Meow. Meow. Meow. Meow.

Are some things better than others? ie chicken vs. hamburger meat vs. poultry vs. tofu?

A 6oz can of tuna actually has closer to 40g of protein. A 6oz chicken breast (boneless, skinless) also has around 40g of protein. The protein powder I use has 20g per scoop, so a shake with 2 scoops and 16oz of milk (I use soy) has 54g of protein. So just those 3 things and you've got 134g, over half of your quota. Learning to eat more, and more often, was the hardest part for me. There are lots of great food and recipe ideas on this site too.

I get almost 200g protein a day with no powders. At first I was using powders, but I stopped using them once I figured out I could do it without them. :)

I use tuna in a pouch. The pouch is 13g protein for 2 oz. The ready to use egg whites I have are 5g protein for 3tbsp. The skinless boneless chicken breast I use is 38g protein for one breast. My cottage cheese is 14g protein for 1/2 cup. My oat bran hot cereal is 6g protein for 1/4 cup and my natural peanut butter is 7g protein for 2tbsp. My yogurt is 6g per container. My fat free cheese is 9g for 1/4 cup.

So, if I ate:
Breakfast: 1/2 cup oatbran w/2 tbsp natural peanut butter, 9tbsp egg whites (3eggs), 1 peach(or apple, grapefruit, strawberries) - 34g protein
midmorning: fat free yogurt, sugar free jello - 6g protein
lunch: 6oz tuna, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 cup spinach (or kidney beans) - 55 to 59g protein depending on whether it's spinach or kidney beans
midafternoon: 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 sliced tomato - 14g protein
dinner: chicken breast, 1 cup broccoli (or asparagus, etc), 1 cup spinach leaves w/carrot, cucumber, etc for salad, 2tbsp oil & vinegar dressing - 38 to 44g protein depending on other vegetable
evening: 9tbsp egg whites(3 eggs), salsa, fat free cheese, sugar free jello for my sweet tooth - 24g protein

Total of 171 - 181 protein give or take a few.

Most guys would eat 4-5 egg whites or even a couple whole eggs in there and could easily get the 200g I think. Also putting a protein food in place of the jello would increase it.

I just want to say DAMN that's a lot of food! :)
I think this part is harder then dragging my butt to the gym. I'm used to eatting once to twice a day. But to eat 5 times a day! Ouch.

If I'm only working out 3 days a week should I be eating this all the time or just on workout days? Or the day after? With all this eating I'm worried that I'll get a bigger gut then when I was only eating twice a day.

Help yourself out and educate yourself on proper nutrition. You need to eat like this ALL of the time. Eating more often keeps your metabolism stoked. If you are serious about putting on muscle or losing bodyfat, it is important to keep yourself fed with healthy, balanced meals. When you simply eat once or twice a day, your body will hold on to whatever you ate, because it knows that it will go for long periods before you eat, this is not what you want, it's a mechanism that was handy for our early ancestors, but in this age of plenty, we no longer have to go days before we eat again. So, do yourself a favor and EAT!

THAT BELIEVE IS TOTALLY OLD SCHOOL AS ARNOLD SAID.
ALTHOU IT DEPENDS ON YOUR WEIGHT.

WHAT I WANT TO SAY IS THAT A 140 POUNDS PERSON CAN´T ABSORB 100 GRAMS OF PROTEIN PER SITTING.

YOUR WEIGHT, MUSCLE AND STUFF DECIDE YOU PROTEIN ASSIMILATION.
