how much calories do you think you loose dancing up a storm on a clubbing weekend? cuz whenever me and the girls go out we dance from like 10:30 till 2 (but we do drink while doing this). i'm always feeling lighter on monday (the scale proves it). but i'm thinking its just dehydration. what do y'all think?

this might sound stupid but when i was 20 i got a ps2 for my birthday so i could do that dance dance revolution game...anyway, there's actually a mode on that where you can track how many calories you're burning. i burned 300 in an hour once while my roommates sat and laughed at me.
the point of this story is that dance dance revolution is probably not as intense as dancing in a club, so if you're dancing from 10:30 to 2, even with taking breaks that's a lot of calories you could potentially burn.
i actually went to www.caloriesperhour.com and calculated it for you. if you danced straight through for 3 1/2 hours, you'd be burning a whopping 893 calories. if you're drinking while you're doing this, your body is going to metabolize the alcohol before metabolizing fat, but it's your call on what you're willing to sacrifice to have a good time.
chances are the weight your missing on monday is just water, but regardless of if it's making you lose weight or not, you are burning calories while you're dancing. yay! i hope this is more helpful than confusing:)

ya it is helpful. i dont drink too much (i'm a cheap drunk...2 drinks is all i need). but i still leave the place with my hair DRENCHED. i never sweat that much when i work out. i dance practically 3 1/2 hours straight. i usually only take breaks when a crappy song comes on and everyone leaves the floor then the dj puts a good song back on and we're back out there. plus i do drink water during those breaks. i have a dancing weekend plan. if i do this every friday/saturday night i'm bound to loose the wieght righ? considering i'm the desginated driver on friday's then its gonna help me out eh?

in theory, yes, you'd lose the weight by doing this, just remember that weight loss isn't just working out, it's also eating right.
if you're doing all this dancing on top of lifting weights and having a healthy diet i'd think you'd see results in a reasonable amount of time.
geez, maybe i need to take up clubbing, eh??

I love my club workouts.. I am with you, wet head and all! Not as often as I would like any more but oh so fun <sigh>
'Back in the day' I was there every Fri and Sat night .. if that's what you meant above, you will be in GREAT shape in no time.
Take the time to actually track what you are eating every day for a week or two, you may be surprised to find that you are not eating enough or are eating more than you think you are.. being veg and as active as you sound, you need to be sure your body doesn't think it's starving and hold on to those last 5 pounds for all its worth.
Dance on!
