Those are good points. It must be nice getting strong all the time and having to do nothing else...with food provided, and no actual labor. I can't say that I wouldn't eventually get burned out on it though...you know, after 5 years of nothing but lifting.-------------- I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-victorious. --Vince Lombardi "Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. I got nauseous reading his dietary choices....the sheer volume doesn't bother me because he's a big guy....but his specific food choices are beyond horrible....can't believe he can lift what he lifts eating the way he does....and can only imagine what he could accomplish if he ate well... another example of genetics...and success in spite of one's poor eating choices....

If you ask me, Tate is an IDIOT (Oh my gosh dare I say) when it comes to this. Berardi is absolutely right...his eating problem is a weakness. I don't care how much he benches or how much he squats or whatever else makes him feel better. I'd like to see Dave Tate tell Marius Pudzianowski (yes I know he supposedly juiced) he's weak, or Kobe Bryant, or I could go on and on about LEAN athletes that are a helluva lot stronger than the average lifter. What the heck good is it gonna do him to bench 5,000 pounds if he's eating pure junk and dies before the age of 40? It's gonna come back to bite him sometime. -------------- I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-victorious. --Vince Lombardi "Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. I heard ab this from berardi a while ago, and then it was mentioned in his interview with robertson. John says that it will take a while just to get him back on a normal diet, and that his first advice to Tate was to go back to eating mcDonalds.
I agree with you, Dave is ignorant to many things... -------------- Iron and chalk. Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. If you can still walk, then you can still run. |

at the very least he can go to Sizzler or Outback....Mcdonalds is a terrible place to eat....
I am shocked to learn he vomitted and had diarhea after eating healthy....because for me it's exact opposite...I can no longer eat pizza, any fried food, any fast food, drink soda, etc....7 bags of chips....that's insane....I think sumo wrestlers have better diets than that.....

============
Quoting from arondaballer: I'd like to see Dave Tate tell Marius Pudzianowski (yes I know he supposedly juiced) he's weak ============= So you mean to tell me that you think Tate is natural? He's had what, 3 pectoral tears? Naturally? I doubt it. -------------- Iron and chalk. Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. If you can still walk, then you can still run. |

Oh I have no idea how natural that dude is. To be honest, I don't know who does and doesn't juice...I was just makin a point about lean athletes. He was all sayin that the guys that eat healthy are weak and stuff.-------------- I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-victorious. --Vince Lombardi "Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. Dave mentioned that those that eat healthy at westside are the weakest. Which could be true. Notice dave is getting 10000 calories. Not easy to do while eating healthy and clean. The strongest ones there are the ones that do eat that much. However, Dave is not talking RELATIVE strength. Look at Chuck V. He was always cutting until he moved up to heavyweight (where he is a DOMINANT lifter nonetheless might I add), that was out totalling some heavyweights.-------------- Iron and chalk. who dave/tate?????

It's more than possible...things like pasta can get you to that caloric requirement easy....If he wants lots of liquid calories then he should make protein shakes/gainers.....hell he'd be ^10 better off buying a 2000 a serving gainer and drinking 2-3 of those a day then eating pop tarts, chips, soda, and the like....
Even eating dense soups or other liquid calories is better....forget the name...but sumo wrestlers...eat some kind of very calorie dense broth several times a day.....even that is a step in the right direction....I think dave is looking for excuses....you think Mariuz eats less? I will bet you anything that marius eats more than Tate by couple thousand calories...but much cleaner....tate is probably 20% bf....Marius is probably 6-8%(his metabolism is therefore much higher....as they both weigh 290...tho mariuz was as heavy as 305+)....and both take steroids...so that doesn't give either an unfair advantage....

sweetnsour not to be an ahole but if you just open the link in the first post and read the article...you'd know who he is...why him going on a diet is quiet amusing....there's his picture and even his biography on that site....so my suggestion is to read the article....

I didn't say impossible. Just that it is easier to get 100000 crap calories.
Now for anyone that says nutritrion doesn't matter, I would like to point out that while Tate is an AMAZING powerlifting coach, heres the difference. Tate dominates in the APF. Marius dominates in the WSM. Big difference here in level of competition. -------------- Iron and chalk. Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. If you can still walk, then you can still run. |

Also, one other thing you have to take into account is the fact that Marius is a professional athlete, eat sleep and train. Dave is a professional businessman that gets up at 5 in the morning and has to fit a workout in at some point in the day.
Ever wonder why the bulgarians and norwegians are so successful? This has a lot to do with it. -------------- Iron and chalk. Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. If you can still walk, then you can still run. |

great points...
I wonder if powerlifting will ever become a sport at which one could make a living....like bodybuilding to an extent....or WSM....as they get quite a bit more money for winning competitions...as well as for guest appearances and advertising crappy products...lol...

In certain countries it is. Bulgarians lifters live in a complex where all they have to do is eat train and sleep. No external stress on their bodies whatsoever.-------------- Iron and chalk. Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. If you can still walk, then you can still run. |

I also agree that as a big guy he fears losing that mental image. His whole Idenity is that of a big huge eating guy. I can def relate with that.-------------- Less Talk, More Chalk! The Men and Boys are Separated by one thing: The Squat Cage! 7707mutt@freetrainers.com |

That is another good point. Thousands of lifters try for the bulgarian national team. A lot of people think that just because the bulgarians do one thing and it works, that it must be effective for them. The reality is, it is only effective for those that do not burn out.
Just like how many will not see the gains dave has following his diet. He is a positive product of a set system, not everyone will have the same results. -------------- Iron and chalk. Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. If you can still walk, then you can still run. |

Intresting read, Although he did eat alot of fast food, when it was broken down, it wasn't that bad. Low on protein, but otherwise not THAT bad concidering.
Guess it just shows you what having a powerful mind set, and good gentics will do for ya? -------------- Get your bicep curling, cut off shirt, matching workout outfit wearing, flexing in mirror "toned" wanna-be ass , out of my squat rack! I don't even think it was genetics. You guys are underestimating him again. The man oozes intensity. I gained 20lbs on my deadlift just from hearing his voice. You can not begin to imagine the types of workouts he goes through 5 days a week.
If any of you guys have the chance to attent and efs seminar, I HIGHLY recommend you do so. You will learn a lot. -------------- Iron and chalk. Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. If you can still walk, then you can still run. |
