Would the results from doing side lat raises on a machine be as good as with free weights. My concern is, when I'm doing side lat raises with dumbbells, even though I work to the point that I can't lift the weights at all anymore, I'm NEVER sore the next day, so I think I may be getting the motion wrong and a machine would be exactly what I need. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

I assume you are talking medial delts rather than lats. Mix them up, I do the machine and free weights both all the time. Hits a bit differently.

I really feel mine if I relax my wrists, and act like i'm pouring somthing on the way up, (thumbs pointing 45* downward)

Yep, like you have a jug of water in each hand and are dumping it in that motion at the top.
