Hi,
I started a new execise routine 4 weeks ago now, which included 2 days weight training which last around 1 hour and 3 days of cardio which consists of about 40minutes running.I'm trying to add some muscle mass and have gained about 1/2" on my arms and 3/4" on my chest,so far i'm happy with my results but am struglling with my diet. I always used to eat alot of sweet and chocolate but have manage to nearly cut it out completely. I weigh about 160lbs and am 5,9" tall. Heres what i've been working to -

Breakfast: Cereal + semi-skimmed milk
Snack: Dry roasted peanuts/Fruit
Lunch: Tuna Sandwich
Snack: Dry roasted peanuts/fruit or peanut butter sandwich.
Dinner: Chicken + veg or fish + pasta.
I also drink alot of water througout the day and also have a large glass of milk a day.

I'm not sure if i'm getting enough protein in for my workouts or not? I can't afford supplements right now. Any help or advice would be very much apprecieted. thanks :)

You definitely aren't getting enough protein. The thread I'm pasting is a fairly long read but worth the time if you want a better perspective on why you need more.

Yeah, have natural peanut butter and maybe add another meal with some more good protein in it. That in addition to a PWO shake and you should be set on protein. Looks like you could stand to have a few extra complex carbs as well. A good slow burning one before you workout like some oats possibly and a sweet potato after. It's very important to have a solid meal with a good protein source and complex carb before and after your workout or cardio.

I was wondering with regards to the oats, how long should they of been consumed before i can start my workout?
