I tried to post this earlier and it never came up. This is the second try if it appears twice, sorry!
This weekend on the discover channel there was a body challenge. Six people competing over 16 weeks to get fit and lose weight. The winner used a program called dietpower to help control what they ate. I found it www.dietpower.com.
This program is pretty nice and may help some of you. It tracks everything you eat and gives you calories, nutrients, vitamins, protein, fat, carbs, cholestoral, etc. You enter your weight, put in a goal and timeframe and it calculates the number of calories you need to eat daily to reach your goal. It has a 11,000 food database with all calories and nutrient info. You can also enter your own foods from the labels.
An exercise section lets you enter daily activity. The program automatically calculates calories burned and adjusts what you can eat. Daily nutrient levels are graphed vs guidelines. You can change the guidelines if you wish. I think some of them are low. It even track water. Every day, when you weigh-in the program recalculates your BMR based on the new information and adjusts you target calorie level.
For those of you who have a good handle on calorie and nutrient content in foods, you don't need this. For me it helps me eat less and healthier. By having to log in all foods, I think twice before popping something into my mouth. It also helps me track vitimain and nutrient levels. I even entered my daily vitamin tablet.
I don't see why it could not be used to gain weight as well.
After the first few uses it is quick, no more than five min/day; except for entering new foods.
FYI I have no stake in this, just thought it might help someone keep on track. The program is not expensive and you can get a 15 day trial free and money back guarantee

Carivan,
Thanks for the site info. I did check it out and it looks quite similar and free.
My only concern is thier privacy policy. Pretty much says they will give your info to anyone, Also said they have alot of pop up advertisers who can access your info and send spam.
If I decide to stick with this after the trial period I will probably pay the $50 and have the program on my hard drive.
Again, thanks for the feedback. As an active (some say over active) 49 year old, I enjoy many of your posts and hearing from others around my age who are not slowing down.

Grsee...I have been using the site since Oct 2002, I haven't recieved any spam, as far as the pop ups, you can dwn load (for free) panicware's pop-up stopper. I never see them anymore, on any site. And personally I didn't know they give out info, but it's only what I eat and my activity level. Just more info for you. Keep up the activity level. It will pay off when we are 90! lol
