Hey guys!
Im tryin 2 get my diet in order and I had a question about carbs and dietary fibre as well as a BMR one. Some quick facts first :
age 22
height 5'10
weight 168 lbs
BMR : 1850 (apparently for my age and acitvity level)
Im trying to reduce my fat and since May I have cut down alot on my waist and other parts of my body just by changing my dietary choices i.e from white pastas 2 brown and such but now im trying 2 take it to the next level!
I am trying to follow a PCF ratio of 50:20:30 and basing this ratio on my BMR b/c I want 2 lose weight but everything to be eaten has a high amount of carbs!
At a 50:20:30 ratio the grams from PCF break down to 232:93:61 respectively.
91 grams of carbs a day is extremely hard 2 maintain I find as even my glass of soy milk has about 23g of carbs itself and even 1/2 a can of kidney beans has 17 gs of carbs!!
My question basically is then, is it possible 2 find foods that are low in carbs but high in protein, other than meats? or should I just be eating green vegetables like brocolli or asparagus that have high dietary fibre and pay no attn to how many carbs these types of foods have?
I am so lost and I'd appreciate any feedback that i could get, thanks alot.
Atif

Don't make it too hard. You have the right idea but you still need a ballpark figure for what you're eating. Stick to the green fibrous foods and don't leave out sweet potatoes and lots of bean mixes. They are probably one of the best all around foods you can eat. It's not so much what you eat but when. I try and keep the majority of carbs earlier in the day and pretty much have only protein and small amounts of vegetables in the evenings. Cottage cheese before bed really helps.

True but it is kinda what you eat if you're going for only 20% of your calorie intake to come from carbohydrates right?
I mean I can and do eat beans and i dont eat carbs in the evenings anymore or if i do they're normally in the form of kidney beans/brocolli etc, my last carb meal is lunch.
What does cottage cheese before bed do btw?
And btw thanks for your input!

Overly simplistic but the cottage cheese is digested slowly. It keeps your body from eating that hard earned muscle you're trying to build and keeps your metabolism up.
