HI. How come when i play like basketball, i really have to catch my breath, like i have to stop running and put my hands on my knees and crouch over to breath. But when i run on a treadmill and get off, I don't feel like that. Not has tried. DOn't even have to crouch or anything. So does that mean tradmill is not has effective as a sport.

Not sure, really, but one idea may be you are doing quicker, shorter burst for basketball than on the treadmill. Or, maybe turn up the treadmill! ;)

Bob, I'm fairly sure this is (as Tim says) due to the sheer nature of the run. On a treadmill even if you get it up to full speed you haven't done so immediately from a standing start. In basketball it's all about explosions of speed and power which are generally anaerobic. Running on a treadmill is aerobic generally unless you're going uphill and very fast.
After anaerobic exercise your body needs ot replenish the oxygen in your bloodstream as quickly as it can, hence you buckled over sucking in as much breath as possible.
Hope this helps.
