ask for a second opinion. you need to be treated back to your original health as much as possible. Your doctor took the hippocratic oath to cure you to the best of his knowledge, and think only of your recovery in all aspects, even if that means referring you to a specialist.
and if you've got an injured body part, especially a dislocated knee, you NEED a doctor to tell you what exercises you need to do for therapy

You should strengthen your Quads and abducts. If you have dislocated your knee you must go to an Orthopaedic Surgeon for a checkup otherwise you can get arthritis in a few years. I'm not joking,so many people dont go to doctors because of a dislocated knee and end up later in a wheelchair. Anyways if you want to do quad exercises that are good for your knee do this:
Lie on the bed flat and lift up the leg with the injured knee. Keep lifting up the leg continuously for about 30 times without resting inbetween. To exercise the abduct place a small ball or rolled up pillow between your legs and press really hard and feel your inner thigh muscles working. These muscles keep your knee cap in place. Good luck and check up on your knee. p.s. I would ditch that doctor you have now as well,he obviously does not know what he is doing.....
