Again, I come to you all because you have seen me through this life change and helped me so much along the way.
Now recently I posted and upped my workout regimen drastically as I am now 17 days away from boot camp. I am lifting(Alternating areas every other day) and doing 25 mins of strenous cardio every morning and am also doing about 30 mins of strenous cardio every evening. I know it is alot but boot camp will be worse. Anyway that's the background for those who don't know. Now, I was warned by you and others that to make sure I am eating enough as I do this for the next few weeks. My problem is WHEN do I eat. Other that the obvious I guess my main issue is I see that you all seem to eat or drink some food or supplements right after a workout. should I do this also? And What is best? Protien based, right? My problem is that after I work out I simply am NOT hungry. So do I force myself to eat something or what? And should I eat after both workouts or just the morning one? Anyway, sorry so long winded. So Do I just make myself eat or what after a workout? Thanks -------------- It is no fun to be normal!!! |

protein shake with water within 30 mins of your work-out and then a meal about an hour or so after. try and get some quality protein and good carbs in that meal to set you up. also you could try a protein shake before you go to bed, this time with milk, so that it absorbs in the body slower during your rest
good luck with boot camp - it sounds fun!!! |

OMG, I CANNOT do those or any shakes. THe only thing I can even stomach are those nasty slim fast drinks. ( I use once in awhile when I know I won't be able to sit and eat) Wacky job scedule of mine.
Do you all know of any good premade drinks like that, that I can get. It's just so hard to eat when Im not hungry and I am more able to guzzle something quick if I need to. ANy brands you all prefer and trust? -------------- It is no fun to be normal!!! |

Have you tried Vanilla protein pwd mixed with half a frozen banana and skim milk? It is like a banana shake....I don't like any of the flavoured ones myself. Or make a smoothie with 1/2c vanilla yogurt 1/2c oj and a couple slices of banana and vanilla protein pwd.

whoa.... you DO need to eat... I mean, you can sort of eat something real light before you do all that cardio and all that, but if you STOP eating, then it'll turn to anorexia which won't be funner than boot camp/ ============ Quoting from parko03: Again, I come to you all because you have seen me through this life change and helped me so much along the way. A protein bar will not work as well as a shake. You have a "window of opportunity" immediately post workout, that lasts about an hour. This is a super compensation time, and a "liquid" meal is your best option here due to the quick absorbtion. To maximise your gains, this should be adhered to. Cortisol will be running rampant, and no positive changes can take place till your bodily functions are restored to normal(such as blood sugars and temperature, etc.) So, the sooner you "normalize", the sooner your body can start to repair itself. Think about this over time, and your gains will come much quicker than those who don't. You are jump starting the healing process so to speak with your post workout shake. I am assuming you are "earning" this shake of course with hard workouts. Casual workouts need not apply!!-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |
