If you lift hard at the gym but still don't become sore, are you still building any muscle? If not, should one strive to finish each set by going until he/she can't do another rep every time to reach soreness, or is that just overworking the muschle?

I would think that if you are doing the lifts correct that you would be sore the next day. I try to use a weight that is hard for me to lift 10 times.

I agree. I believe that if you lift correctly you WILL be sore. The time between working that muscle again two days gives it time to heal.

Everyone here has a good point. If you are doing the workout corresctly, soreness usually follows. BUT....If you are not sore, it doesn't necessarily mean you didn't work hard enough. I worked my ass off last night at the gym (correctly) and I'm not sore, maybe a little tight. Don't overdo yourself CORY82B...some days you'll be sore, others, you won't. Work hard but don't kill yourself for the sake of soreness.
-------------- May the lift be with you.
