Hey there I'm new here Im trying to figure out how this works. I recently started walking n running a mile every, eating healthy and working out at the gym twice a day. At the gym i usually do aerobics(steps, abs, lunges, reverse curl and others) or kick boxing, or weights, etc. I currently weight 160lbs and i want to loose approximately 35 pounds. I want to do this before jan08. Do you think this is possible? Help me achieve this. Thanks for all your feedback on this.

Hi tropicalgirl and welcome to FT. As a general rule of thumb, one should aim for loosing 1-2 lbs/week. Can you loose faster, well yes, but it won't likely stay off in the long run. Generally you lose quickly at the start and then it tapers off. It looks like you're off to a great start, the key is to stick with it, even if you're progress isn't quite as fast as you expect. You will get there and you'll develope some great lifestyle habits along the way! Good luck!

Sounds great. Don't shy away from lifting heavy weights. There have been a lot of studies that show an intense lifting routine can burn as many calories per unit time as a cardio workout of the same length. What's great about lifting, though, is that your body spends hours afterwards dipping into fat reserves to fuel the process of muscle fiber repair/building. Lifting weights is like killing two birds with one stone. HIIT can have similar effects as lifting due to hormones that are released as a result of cycling your HR way, way up and then back down. Normal cardio gets your HR up to a certain level but don't approach maxHR the way HIIT does. Good luck, and post any questions you have. :)
