do you guys count the weight of the bar when totaling the amount of weight lifted,my bar weighs 45lbs so when benching 200lbs its actually 245lbs!big diffrence.also do they count the bar weight in meets?

You count your total weight lifted.

always add in the weight of the bar, that is how they do it in meets also

Sure thing, you are lifting it, it weighs 45 lbs. For instance 2 plates on each side will be 225. 180 in weights, and 45 more for the bar.

I agree, but when I use dumbells I tend to just list the one weight when I do things like a chest press or pec flies. Do others do the same or do you do total wt when using both at same time? I've never really thought about this before, but I guess it really doesn't matter as long as your consistent .

yea just as long as you're know what you're doing/lifting then it's fine whichever way you decide to keep track...I usually just use 's' to show 2 DBs....e.g. 15s....when I am doing 15lb DBs ....

i only write the weight of each individual dumbell, not their combined weight and i usually have either bb or db in front of the type of exercise i am doin so i know whether it is a barbell or dumbells
