Everyone is saying people should drink a lot of water each day. I was wondering if drinking lots of water actually helps you lose weight in some way...?
Thank you, Izabella

Yes. Fats break down by a process called hydrolysis. The term 'hydro' is Latin (or Greek, can't remember) for water. Basically, fat won't go away without water.

Also keeps you hydrated for your kidneys and liver to work properly. Many other benefits as well. Takes away dry skin, itchy nose, dandruff, etc.

Another good thing, if you keep your body hydrated, it will keep down the chances of you retaining water.

Whenever you are feeling for a little (baaaad) sugar craving, drink water!!!! (o;

Sufficient hydration creates a more anabolic (muscle building/ fat burning) atmosphere in your body. Your muscles are 70% water!

Never say TRY because it gives you the chance to quit.

Make a Large goal easier by taking small steps. If you make small goals you will feel like you are accomplishing something, because you are.

Its sort of true in the sence that hydrolysis refers to the spliting of molicules by use of a molicule of water.
However, your body will use this proccess regardless of wether you drink gallons of water per day, there is enough water in your system for this to take place unless your dehydrated and then odviously water will be concerved for other proccesses. Lets not get carried away here. It is always good to drink plenty of water as caravan points out some of the benifits. but it wont answer all our prayers, water is not a fat burner and will only help to reduce fat as part of a strict regieme concisting of exercise and good eating. Although BB1 fit raized an exelent point that regular drinking will reduce water retention. When the body is low in liquids it will super compensate by holding on to liquids when it gets the chance. A bit simular to the way we hold onto fat in starvation mode

I don't know about all the scientific stuff but I know it works for me! I drink a glass or two whenever I think I'm hungry (esp at work or when bored) and 99% of the time the "hunger" goes away. So it helps me cut my calories.

I love water now...used to drink like 5-6 Coke's a day and not a drop of water. As soon as I started eating healthy and hitting the gym I dropped the soda's and started with about a gallon and a half of water a day and bam...dropped 30 lbs. It's not the cause of the weight loss but it definately isn't hindering it...regardless likely you'll be drinking something throughout the day, so of everything out there Water is obviously the best choice for your body.

What they say. I drink lots of water while I'm training because I'm sweating and peeing alot. With that in mind I do know we are 2/3rd water therefore replenshing is just what my body demands. By the way I have found out the more water I drink the thirstier I get.
See you at the water fountain( and in the bathroom)
