At the beginning of every winter, I am usually plagued with really dry skin. I know the weather change etc. causes this. This year it seems to be much worse. I feel itchy and very uncomftorable overall.
Is there anything that might help this condition? Ie-something added to diet etc...
Thanx in advance.

Are you supplementing with essential fatty acids...that'll help. Also, too hot showers, not drinking enough water will contribute to dry itchy skin. Hope this helps...if you find yourself extra sensitive wash with cetyphil body wash (it's fairly inexpensive and very gentle you can buy it anywhere) also, when you wash your clothes put it on the extra rinse cycle and don't use fabric softner. Fabric softner can further irritate sensitive skin.

Also directly after you get out of the shower apply lotion to your affected areas. I have extereme dry skin on my legs and feet. Right after I shower I put lubriderm on them. Also stay away from vaseline lotion petroleum jelly products only dry your skin more. For your face use either oil of o'lay or I prefer nutragena face lotion. Again put it on right after the shower, This will lock moisture next to your skin and help it. Another good soap is lever moisture response. - Mike

Wow...3X.
Yes, lotion after a shower is very helpful. Do stay away from products with mineral oil as well. Mineral oil comes in different grades...the cheaper grades are more common and make your skin more dry...so, just avoid it all together unless you go with something high end...which I don't think is necessary...try other options first.

I noticed ever since I drink water, (about 4.5 litres a day)
my dry skin went away. Water can also help get rid of dandruff. We have to moisturise ourselves from the inside.

Also, ensure you are getting enough of your daily vitamins. The cells need nourishment from them
