When i get home from school i go straight to the books (IB)so i am only able to do cardio and or weights afterwards (about 8 o clock). My question is, is it okay if i eat right after i do cardio? It may seem like a dumb question but im hoping that it has no affects or anything. When i say right after i mean literally, i come upstairs from the treadmill and eat. Although i don't feel liek eating (since i am all sweaty and tired) my mom makes me.
Thanks!

I admire your dedication to the books. You definately want to do whatever you have to in order to maintain your academics. However, you have to eat. Earlier would be better but at the same time you need to eat after your workout. Could you workout when you get home from school, eat, and then hit the books? Make a deal with mom for a trial run and show her that the homework gets done and the grades will not suffer. Or-start your day out by doing your cardio then. There are some added benefits by doing cardio in the morning. Remember set goals, establish priorities, then manage your time. If you learn that now it will help you later in life in all of your endeavors. Good Luck

agamble is right on this. I used to be in the exact situation just last year. I would get home, cram until 9pm and then do my cardio. Your body will be scambling for calories after cardio so give it some, because you don't want your body to start breaking down muscle for them. This is especially true if you go to bed afterwords. That could mean your fasting for over 8 hours if you don't eat anything!

Eat something high protien, with good carbs and low fat. Its always a good idea to put some food in you before bed, especially after a workout.

- Its never about how much you can lift, or how many reps you do. Its just about doing it, and doing it right.
- If your hungry all the time, your not eating enough. And anyways, being hungry sucks.

You are right on borpillicus, except for the contents of your post cardio meal. Especially, before bed. Your body does not need carbs before bed. And after a tough cardio session, I would opt for protein, fiber, and fats. See, carbs elicit an insulin response. This in itself can stop fat burning. Fats have only a 10% chance of being converted to glucose, so this is a very good "fuel" to feed your body at this time. It will have no affect on insulin, so it will not interfere with fat burning. Your fat should be in the form of flax oil or fish oils or along those lines. A good protocol would be a protein shake with a tbsp. of flax oil and a tbsp. of flax seed. This way you get good fiber also.
