I prefer using dumbells for practically every muscle that can be worked. Becuase I get a deeper range of motion. Does anyone else try to use dumbells more then Barbells. Although I know that I can do 90lbs Dumbell bench press for a set of 8 I don't know how much I can bench using a barbell. Am I the only one like this? How many people prefer Dumbells and how many prefer Barbells? What are the true benifits of each? Which ones is more prone to cause injury? Which one is the overall most rewarding for upper body work?

I just do what FT gets me to do.
But since i train at home, i like using dumbells alot on the bench cause its less dangerous i find...When you run out of power with a barbell its not too convenient.
Nothing you dont know eh..

I prefer barbells, I feel they give me the most basic movement I need for muscle growth..I still use dumbells alot in many variations, but I do most pressing motions using barbells. Amr

I use barbells mainly for the compound movements like squats and deads. Like Billk I haven't used the barbell for ages on the bench..

dumbells for upper body and barbells for the lower this probably works the best

Prefer dumbbells after learning about the limited range of motion barbells put your joints through.

Hi billk, I work out at home and don't have a spotter. My wife can't handle the weight I use so I've found out that I use dumbells more that barbells. I can get rid of them better if I get in trouble.
