I was wondering how late is to late to have carbs at night. I normally work out at 7:30PM and go to bed around 10PM. I have a protein shake after my work out, but I also like to have a bowl of oatmeal or cream of wheat. Sometimes a couple of cups of air popped popcorn. I don't eat this any later than 8:30. Is this to many carbs to late at night?

How many carbs are you taking in exactly? With you training late at night like that i would say that having a few carbs is no biggy since your creating a need for them. Drop the popcorn asap, have some plain rice cakes, wheat bread or the oatmeal.

If you train at 7:30 PM, don't go for any more carbs after 6:00 pm. Also depends on what your goal is. I'm saying no carbs, thinking you might be trying to lose fat.

I can't remember how many carbs are in 1/2 cup oatmeal but that is about the number I carbs I am taking in after my workout, sometimes I have a little more than a 1/2 cup but thats about it.

I am 5' 11" and 133 lbs right now. I don't have much fat so I am not looking at losing much, I am basically just looking at getting into better overall shape and gain a little muscle. I am doing the 8 week progressive gains program and looking to gain some lean muscle mass. Not looking at getting really big just a nice body improvement.

well now that i am bulking, i try not to eat a lot of cabrs, just those i get from my peanut butter and my glass of milk. now that i am bulking, i take 1 cup cottage cheese + 2 tbsp penut butter + glass of milk and some protein powder.
if you are not looking for fat loss, then dont worry about it too much, but try to eat lean, eat cabrs if you want but not too much.
see what works for you.

Unless you have a raging metabolism, I would avoid any starchy carbs before bed.

Kakaroto, you are bulking yet trying not to eat a lot of carbs? Don't you need a good amount of carbs for calories and working out and stuff? Or were you just refering to trying not to eat lots of carbs late at night?
I'm confused. I thought you need to eat a good amount of carbs for mass gaining.
