No I'm not pregnant but my sister is, and I'd like to know what kinds of foods that she should eat for her baby to come out good and healthy. Are there any foods that she should not eat? Thanks

Don't eat very much fish(the mercury in it isn't good for babies) Make sure she gets lots of fruits and veggies, and up the orange juice intake (folic acid is good for babies)Calcium if her system can take added dairy is good too. Pretty much, just eating healthy and taking pre-natal vitamins should take care of it. And congrats to her!!

There are quite a few foods that shouldn't be eaten whilst pregnant, she should speak to her midwife or doctor. These include:
Liver of any sort due to high vitamin A content.
Unpasteurised cheeses, soft cheeses and pates due to risk of food poisoning.
There may be others which I can't think of just now.

She should be taking a folic acid supplement for the first trimester to reduce risk of spina bifida.

Thanks for adding in princess...I was going off what I learned from when my sister in law was pregnant. I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was about 7 months along, so I ate hamburgers and fries all the time w/o a second thought. Deffinately would not reccomend that route to anyone!

Is it alright for her to eat spicy foods? She also eats a high fat diet. (she doesn't eat healthy at all) The High fat comes from the Chili with no beans which has 19 grams of fat per serving (1 cup) and 2 servings. She eats the whole can!

I'm not aware of any restrictions with spicy food (although again she should double check with her midwife/doc), but she will probably give up as her pregnancy progresses and she starts to get killer heartburn!
