What are the effects on your body when you don't consume enough protein.
I went vegetarian a couple months ago, and right now I am getting over a cold, so maybe that is why I'm feeling so lethargic... but I thought maybe there were other factors as well?
I do take a daily multi-vitamin, and a protein shake every few days. Maybe I should up that to once a day as well? I do however eat lots of beans, lentils, cottage cheese, nuts, etc...

In extreme cases, it's called "Kwashiorkor". Not pleasant.

Getting good protein intake is hard for vegetarians as almost all vegetable proteins are incomplete (they lack key amino acids like methionine and lysine).
I'm not a vegetarian, though I do eat a limited amount of meat. I usually drink 1-2 protein shakes per day (one in the morning for breakfast and one after my evening workout). Though in a pinch I'll drink Slim Fast or Atkins' brand shakes, I prefer Worldwide "Pure Protein" shakes as they have 35 grams of protein per shake (70% RDA), with only 160 k/cals and 1 gram of fat.
