Yo Justin,
Too many eggs = You're asked to leave the gym. Eggs + protein powder + brocolli + kidney beans = You're escorted from the gym.:surprised: FYI, never eat these foods before squat day. TSMD |

Isn't the yolk that makes you have gas?

Hey AZ,
I'm glad that you enjoy the "Saxman spin" on things. It sucks when I'm the only one laughing. When I do this stuff at home or around company, Mrs. TSMD just rolls her eyes and says, "Try living with him!" But I am serious about what I posted (really). Those 4 foods combine synergistically in one's colon. Several hours later...God, almighty, look out. And the squat thing just adds insult to injury. Please trust da Saxman on this. Especially if you value your gym membership. TSMD :big_smile: |

A quick primer on gas...:big_smile::big_smile::big_smile:
Gas comes from a number of sources. Bacteria in the intestine metabolizes undigested food, especially carbohydrates, and produce gas as an end product. There is a long list of foods that can cause gas, some being beans, onions, brussel sprouts, cabbage, broccoli to name a few. Even bananas and raisins. Also the inability to digest milk sugar will do this.(check your protein). Hydrogen, methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and oxygen are the major compenents of intestinal gas. All of them by the way are odorless. A small amount of sulfur-containing gas accounts for the, shall we say, pungent odor. -------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

Hey bhardy, if you've got any suggestions for replacements with the same nutrition facts that are just as good for you, I'd like to hear them. I have a problem with dairy, but the benefits of a whey shake, cottage cheese and even eggs, I havent found in anything similar. And the good carbs are the same way. Im supposed to avoid all wheat products which is hard to do. There is a bread called Ezekiel that is wheat free, but it isnt very soft and has to be refrigerated or frozen. I eat brown rice and sweet potatoes til Im sick of them. As for broccoli, sometimes I eat brussel sprouts but they do the same thing. Spinach isnt too bad, but I dont want to eat it every day either. I dont know if all gas equals a bad reaction, but I know when I avoid all those foods, I dont have any :big_smile:.-------------- ~Victoria~ ...Do not be discouraged; everyone who got where he is, started where he was.--anon ...There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.--Beverly Sills |

azredhead, don't know if you have tried it or not, but beano(over the counter) is really a prettty good product. Even Pepto bismol works.(I wouldn't advise it all the time though).

Thanks Ron, I have always wondered about that product. Guess I will have to try it. I pop a few tums daily before going to the gym to get rid of the 'burps' (excuse me). It helps too.-------------- ~Victoria~ ...Do not be discouraged; everyone who got where he is, started where he was.--anon ...There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.--Beverly Sills |

The fiber will slow digestion to a crawl, and you are missing your "window" completely. If you don't use supplements, at least do a very high glycemic carb like a potato and have eggwhites, very quick digesting protein. Eggwhites digest in about 30 minutes. You can buy liquid eggwhites at any grocery store just about.-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

Yes, to slow digestion, not much works better than fiber and fats. Add these to your pre bed drinks, and post cardio drinks. Plus added bonus here, no impact on blood sugars. This is also precisely why immediately post workout this is a very bad idea.-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |
