Hi there all you kind and clever people. Could one of you guys tell me the difference between the training regimes of someone with a body like "Ms McPherson" and someone with a body like "Ms Warrior Princess"?

I'd like to know how to do the ft training so that by the end of each day I'm closer to McPherson than Xena. I have nothing against Zena's body, but personally I want McPherson's..

Thanks for your time!

I'll be sure to run around before each workout then; thanks for the advice!

Ms McPherson started out with the right (if you like skinny girls) genetics - tall, lanky and naturally low in muscle mass.
If you have a tall, lanky frame doing wieght lifting in the 12 to 15 rep range will let you build endurance in your muscles, but not much strength or size. It is a good maintainance program, but if you need to lean up, more cardio - try HIIT - it is fun and burns mega calories.
And like evryone else says - eat clean. You still need good amounts of protein and complex carbs and good fats. To lose wieght you need to eat enough - if you starve yourself and workout you will lose muscle and hang onto fat and get mushier and mushier instead of leaner and more defined.
There is a really good magazine called Energy for Women - it shows more realistic body types and more feminine shapes , yet not as shapeless as the girls in Shape or Fitness.
Just remember that people in magazines often have gotten most of theri look from genetics and airbrushing - try to set your goals realistically. Be the best you can be with your genetics - not something drastically different.

HIIT is awesome! I love doing that, i just happened to pick up a video at the store that has a wonderful HIIT based session on it for 20 minutes! If you want to lose more lbs, take it a step further and go for a brisk 30 minutes walk after at the same pace, that way you won't overwork your body. If you need to find out more about the HIIT Program, do a search on here, there are tons of posts regarding it. Good Luck!

Actually, if you want long lean flowing muscle then you should do the cardio after lifting weights. This is a hard combo but do it and you will see results. Make sure you push your self on the cardio and vary it too. Since you are going to a gym you have so many choices to use..stairstepper (don't lean on the handles), treadmill (again don't hold on to the rail), bike, some gyms have a cross country ski machine, rowing machines are great....mix the cardio up each day or even within the same day...5 min bike, 10 min stairstepper, 5 min treadmill. Work in intervals for even better results and really push yourself on the fast interval. You should do at least 25 min.
