I had a recently had a baby and there is still quite a bit of weight to lose (40 pounds). Most of it is on my tummy. I am new to tummy flab. I always had nice abs that were visible but since gaining 90 pounds and losing 50....i'm left with weird saginess there. I am wondering if all the ab exercising i'm doing is a futile attempt to bring back my 6 pack. Is that just loose skin or will it tighten back up. Also, my stomach is actually uneven, it is bigger on one side (I think from where my son's foot was for 3 months of my pregnancy)...is there anyway to fix that through exercise??? Have I just totally destroyed my body by having a baby?

It takes your body approximately 18 months to recover from your pregnancy.
Skin elasticity is genetic, mostly, so if your mom has saggy skin, it is likely you will.
But - there are many women with flat stomachs and nice abs who have had kids. Make sure that your abdominals didn't seperate down the middle when you were pregnant (the doctor should be able to tell by feeling your stomach.
Continue to eat right and workout and use a firming lotion, i think they helped my stomach look better.
It can take a long time for skin to shrink up, give it a year and if it isn't noticeably better you may want to look into a tuck procedure.

And what if they did separate down the middle? (like my wife's did.)

What happens if my abs DID seperate???? YIKES! Can they sew them back together?? :) My uppers are going back to normal slowly its the lower tummy area right about 4 inches above the bikini line that is in real rough shape. It would be hard to compare my body with my mom. She has sagginess in her stomach but she has never done a situp in her life and does not exercise and is overweight so I don't know if that is from having children or from the weight. (sorry mom. I love my mom up until about 4 years ago we were always overweight together.)

I think that part of the tummy tuck procedure is sewing the abdominals back together to tighten the waistline. One of my clients had this done and is back to working out and is very happy with the results.
- Iwantmybodyback - I think it is just a matter of time.
