Hi everyone, I'm new here, but not new to working out. I'm a 23 year old female, weight 140, height 5'2. I eat 6 meals a day, 1600 calories w/ a 40/40/20 split. My workout looks like this. mon- chest/biceps;
tues- cardio/abs;
wed- shoul/leg;
thur- cardio/abs;
fri-back triceps;
sat-cardio/abs;
sun-off.

I take a good multi and other vitamins as well. I take a glutamine supplement in the morning, after my workout, and before bed. I also have a post workout shake and drink plenty of water. My problem is I have extreme energy fluctuations throughout the day. About an hour after every meal I begin to feel irritable and hungry again. Sometimes i get lightheaded and get the shakes. I experience poor concentration and feel lost. This usually doesn't go away until I eat something... which usually give me a quick high and then again, i feel lethargic. I've tried modifying my calorie intake to higher and lower, and that doesn't have an effect. neither does increasing carbs or protein. I've had a blood sugar test, OK there. I had a slightly abnormal TSH level last year, and had another one taken 2 weeks ago. my doctor said it was normal... I want to have another test, but even if it showed up slightly abnormal, could this be enough to start taking medication? Or could there be another explanation for how I'm feeling? My major symptom is lack of concentration and sometimes I even find it hard to breath. I'd appreciate any insight or recommendations. TY in advance.

First off, 1600 cal could be your problem. I would suggest adding about 180 cal over your 6 meals. 12 calories per pound is the minimum one should be at because it can lead to poor health and symptoms of which you are experiencing.
Do the increase between carbs and fat. See how you feel after 2 days.
Good luck.
