I searched fitBuddy, and could not find an answer. The most convenient time for me to excercise is in the evenings. I have an hour drive to get to work in the mornings, and have 4 kids to get ready and off to school, which pretty much takes my entire morning. I am concerned about getting to sleep at night if I were to begin after 7, which would be after dinner? Any insight as to potential problems when it comes to that? Also, would it be good for me to eat a regular dinner before, nothing after, or partial before, partial after? I make it a habit not to eat before going to bed (generally around 9:00)???

Not at all and as a matter of fake for me when I have to workout at night I get tired faster.

The harder you workout the faster your going to get to sleep but on another hand you may wake-up earlier then usual at lest this is what happens to me.

Everyone is different perhaps so lets see what other have to say!

If I were able to go to sleep with ease, and actually feel like getting up earlier, I would have no problem with that!!! Alarm clock is set for 5:30, but I rarely drag out of bed until 6:00 am....My main concern is just whether it would pump me up, and prevent me from falling asleep. I am going to try at least something tonight, and we will see how it goes. :) I really want to loose around 10 lbs... I have been out of the loop with everything for quite some time and today is my new starting day... thanks for the reply!

I guess it would depend on the person...I think some do experience what you're talking about. I've always been the type that can fall asleep at will. Even though an after work workout does get my blood pumping and wake me up, I have no problem falling asleep at night.

I have to hand it to you, though, raising 4 kids, working and still finding time to workout. Very impressive. I was a stay at home mom with 4 kids and still found it challenging to get to the gym. I owned lots of exercise videos and walked early in the morning before the kids got up, but can't imagine having to work full time as well.

In all honestly, I have done both, and I have to give it all to the stay at home moms. It is tough being away from the kids all day and it is tough finding time to get anything done, but I found it harder to find time for anything being home, as there is ALWAYS something to do when you have kids...never a dull moment!!! It is especially hard in the winter time...I think that is where my downfall is at this point in my life...it is extremely cold here, and lots of snow :). Cant get out of the house for anything, except maybe a trip to walmart (I live in the "sticks"), and certainly far and few between - 4 boys and walmart do not go together gracefully!!! They hate it! I will post in the morning how tonights workout - works out!!!

i think if you give yourself a good hour before bed to calm down and do something soothing like a bath or just lay in bed with a good book then you should have no trouble winding down and getting to sleep i think poeple only have trouble when they hype themselves up right before bedtime.

Okay, so today is another day. For some odd reason, kids had three times the homework they normally have, and I did not get even a chance before 9:30 to do anything. So, tonight is going to be the lucky night! I am going to have to get all my eggs in a basket!!! For my other question, does anyone have any recommendations on when dinner should come into play? I used to skip dinner a lot, but I know that is not the best thing, and I am sure if I excercise in the evenings, that would be even worse. Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

I've already excercised more this year than I have in the past 5 years combined, Mindie. I have to at night as well. Just don't have time in the morning before work. So far, I don't even remember being awake after I lay down in bed. I'm out like a light. Good luck to you!

TS8586 - That is great to hear! I wish you the best of luck in sticking with it!!! If you dont mind me asking, do you excercise from home, or the gym? If at home, what is your routine? - Thanks!!

No routine yet, but I just got one today from FT that I'm going to start on Monday. We just moved not too long ago, and the guy who we bought the house from has a great weight machine that he didn't want to take with him, so he sold it to me dirt cheap. I've been using that, as well as the basic push-ups, sit-ups, etc. Next week, I get to "officially" use the machine.

That is cool! I have access to a bowflex, but not at my house, which means I will probably not use it much. I think that I am going to start with Pilates, and I too have gotten a routine from FT within the last couple of days. I just need to fit them in together...it is a little confusing but once I get started, I am sure it will come together (I hope). I need still need to figure out the way I should eat in the evenings, and I think I will have a good start. This website is great though!!! I think it helps out so much. Thanks for the posts!

You're welcome, and let us know what you figure out, because I'm sure I'll have some scheduling "issues" too once I get going.
