Hi , I signed up 2 or 3 days ago, I've been checking out the posts and scanning the site b/c my exercise program starts monday. Im very happy with it so far but... I'm having trouble with the diet/ nutrition part of the website. Is there any other way to control my diet besides counting calories ect? I'm 26 now, and I'd like to lose 40 to 50 pounds eventually, but my real goal is to feel healthy again. when I was youger I was very fit, and could basically eat whatever I wanted... but alas, those days are gone :( I'd appriciate any suggestion to help me get started:)

The answer is no, you are going to have to keep track of your nutrition. In a few months you may be able to lighten up a bit on keeping your nutrition log, but most people never stop it completely. You should always be tweaking your nutritional intake to support the work that your body is doing, and the amount of work changes too. It takes a high level of dedication to yourself, but you are worth it, so it's okay.

Yes controling your diet can actually be harder than controling your exercise! :surprised:

You don't have to count your calories, you just have to make sure of eating the right stuff (do a search in here and you'll find plenty of informations).

All the very best luck to you. :)

I do a "spot check" on my diet about twice a month where I count the calories and protein grams I've eaten that day, and adjust if things aren't on track. I find this healthier than counting cals every day, but will only work if your diet is pretty consistent.

Thanks Ladies, for the insight! Since I've signed up and looked around the sight I've been making an effort to change my bad habbits. e.g. skipping breakfast, eating very late, and I'm reading the lables and checking the nutritional values of the food I'm eating, which I hope will be the doorway to a much healthier life style. I just did half of my exercise routine and I'm about to finish up. Thank you soooo much!
