I'm hoping someone could help me out here. At each stage of my life that i've worked out (usually for a few months at a time before giving up) i've always gotten tired during my workout. Most recently (1 year ago) i trained for 6 months leading up to my wedding. I struggled with getting tired into my 2nd set of every exercise. It eventually leads to me giving up. I started again on Monday and durin my second set of bench presses (90 lbs) i got real tired and could only do 5 reps instead of 8-10. 90 lbs. it shouldn't be that difficult. It's not like i'm some young kid starting out. Or someone who's all skin and bones. WTF?

My bio:
29 years old
180 lbs
6'2"

My typical diet consists of:
7:30 - Fiber One bar
8:30 - 16 oz coffee
10:30 - bowl oatmeal
12:30 - can of tuna on whole wheat, a side (mash pot), 2 cups grapes
3:00 - apple
7:00 - grilled chicken breast, sauted veggies, salad, rice

Last year when i was working out i was also taking whey protein shakes on top of the diet mentioned above.

Is it posible that there's something wrong with me biologically? I mean something has to explain this. And i hope i find an answer other then i just weak.

Thanks for your input.

Look at your diet. Your lunch and dinner look ok, but the rest of it needs major help. Check out the nutrition forum. 6'2" and only 180 - that does sound light.

Your GPP(General Physical Preparedness) could just be really low. Do you do any other type of exercise. If you never exercise really, it might be to your benefit to up your endurance. Some running will probable help. Light aerobics. Something that requires you to get your heart rate up for a period of time.

Wow... I, personally, could not survive on your diet. You need more calories - plain and simple. I could really butcher the crap out of your diet, but won't. You could really use more quality fats for a start. That'll up your total calories a little bit. A more complete breakfast would help, too.

Keep in mind that your metabolism is probably much much higher than his. I agree that doesn't look like a lot, but for a person that is not that active and has a low metabolism that is probable ok. I would like to see it more evenly distributed throughout the day.

To the OP you getting probably more than 50% of calories at night. This is not good.

Actually, I take that back. You are not eating enough. Just eating more for breakfast will go a long way. I still think that GPP is something to consider.

Surprised you don't get headaches with that little food!
I hope that the fiber 1 bar is not instead of breakfast! Like the others said, Increase the calories.

Shawn, GPP for someone just starting to exercise IS lifting weights. It's not like the weights he is lifting are so maximal that he isn't able to recover metabolically.

I'd look at your warm up, to start with.

After that, I'd consolidate what you posted for your diet into one meal, and then eat that 3 times a day.

How much rest are you getting between exercises? Could it be mental thing??

I always seem to get over a workout plateau when I have become thoroughly frustrated with my results and decide i am going to push through whatever is stopping me.

The one thing I have done that has helped me the most is concentrating on the muscle group I am working instead of how heavy the weight might be.
