I tell my wife before I am going to work that I have a meeting from 9:30 till 10:30. I go to work go to my meeting at 9:30. 10:00 my cell phone rings. It's my wife I figure she just forgot that I told her so I don't answer. Five minutes later she pages me to her work. So I leave the meeting to call her. She is crying. She had been having mild contractions for the last couple of days which we figured were just Braxton Hix contractions. This morning though the start to become more frequent and little more painful. She calls the doctor and the doctor tells her to go to the hospital. So here I am thinking we are going to have our baby today. We get to the hospital and they hook her up to the contraction machine to monitor her contractions. They keep her hooked up for a half hour then come in to tell us that they talked to the doctor and they are sending us home. :( I was SSSSOOOOOOO EXITED. I beat my wife to the hospital so I watched a couple dressing their little girl to go home. I guess the plus is I get to go through the excitement of learning we need to go to the hospital again. Just wanted to share.-------------- Dont Expect Results, Earn Them! Lance |

As a instructor I would always allow a student the keep a cell phone or pager on if they had a pregnat wife. Not only should you answer you should call her at least twice a day. As a father of 11, I can say that you are in for a good trip!-------------- I will get to it as soon as I am done lifting. |

Hang in there, Lance! I got so tired of false trips to the hospital when I had my first two, that on the third I refused to let the "braxon hix's" get the best of me since my son wasn't due for 5 more days and the other two were 21 and 13 days late, so at contractions 15 minutes apart I insisted on going to my favorite restaurant to eat prime rib (I always stayed away from eating anything the last few hours before birth). The contractions got to 10 minutes apart and I held my ground insisting I wasn't going to be going back and forth to the hospital with this one! We no sooner made it home and my contractions were 5 minutes apart and we had to RUSH to the hospital where I promptly gave birth!
You just never know with these things, keep that phone on -technology is wonderful - and one of these times soon it is going to be the real thing and it will be awesome! :) -------------- Veda MISERY IS OPTIONAL ***When you are up to your ears in trouble, try using the part that is not submerged. ***The difference between a dream and a goal is a plan. If she's close to her due date and she wants to move things along, I recommend Mexican food.
My husband and I had eaten nachos for dinner the night before our son was born. My husband has a sensitive stomach and relieved his cramping by using the restroom. Me, on the otherhand, got no relief when I tried to get rid of the abdominal pain that night. I kept going to the bathroom in which I thought I was only peeing. I also called my OB and mentioned that I had a tinge of blood in my urine after my last trip to the restroom. I told him about the cramping and his response, "You sound like you are in the beginning stages of labor. You can wait 2 hours to come in to labor and delivery to be checked or come in now." Well, after hanging up the phone, I doubled over in pain. Neither of us had thought anything about this being contractions. My husband dressed me and got me in the car. The most severe pains were in the seat of the car on the way to the hospital. Upon arriving, I was checked for dilation and effacing in which the nurse informed me that I was 10 cm's and my water completely broken and gone. There went that epidural that I thought I wanted!! LOL, I was admitted at 3:08 A.M. and Lucas was born at 5:08 A.M. We are ever so thankful that our son wasn't born on the side of the road somewhere had we waited those two hours. Lucas was 3 days early and my mother's labor with both my brother and I were LONG. When my husband called my parents' to tell them to come to the hospital, my dad told my mom that he was going to shower and shave. My mom wanted to leave right then. Well, when they arrived at the hospital, Lucas was born 15 minutes later. I sure shocked their pants off!! I think birth stories are amazing! I look forward to hearing about your wife, Lance; as well as, Mutt's wife. :) |
