I workout and share diet tips with a co-worker. We pretty much eat similar things, but I have had a serious problem with GAS since I have begun eating so much, and he hasn't. Is anyone else experiencing this? What is an effective product for eliminating gas? It has gotten so bad at times I have to walk around for 10 minutes just to 'clear' things up.........
Currently my meals look like the following:
Meal 1: oats (1/2 cup), egg white (5-6), bananna, 1 1/2 cup skim milk, all blended together in a shake Meal 2: 4 pieces of french toast cooked in egg whites, 1/2 cup syrup, 2 cans slim fast Snack: 1 peice of wheat bread w/ 2 tbsp Peanut Butter Post work out: Cell Tech drink, 2 scoops whey protein/skim milk shake, bananna Meal 3: 1 cup pasta or rice, 5 ouces some meat (turkey or chicken), 1 cup veggies Meal 4: 1 cup rice, 2 baked potatoes with 2 slices fat free cheese, slim fast Meal 5: Some pasta, meat, salad, 2 scoop protein shake w/ skim milk Last Snack/Meal: Try and fit something else in...
The only difference I can see from my non-workout days in the increased intake of fluids (ie- shakes, slim fast, milk)
Thanks.

This has been asked before. The gas is due to your intake of protein. Try fiber-rich foods or even metamucil (a member posted this one) to help.

Thanks rpacheco. I don't need ANY more fiber, if you know what I mean. This has nothing to do with regularity whatsoever. It is strictly a gas thing. I will try a search.

I am on it tonight. I used the search tool and found some very useful info, including Beano and GasX. Metamucill was listed too. We'll see. I can't stand it anymore!!!!!!!!!

Try some tea brewed from about a teaspoon of whole cumin seed. I find it works for me, and doesn't taste bad with a little lemon. using cumin in your recipies will also help.

Thanks Doug, that sounds cool too. I do not drink much tea, how does one brew it if it isn't in a bag? Do I have to purchase some little strainer thingy?

I usually wrap a teaspoon full in a coffee filter and twist it shut. Cumin is used as seasoning in a lot of "gassy" food just for that purpose. Its great as a seasoning for that boring chicken breast too.

There is another product out on the market called Aminogen which is specifically made for this reason. You can find it in any health food store. It works great.

Thanks for the info guys. I have tried GasX this week with limited results but have narrowed the origin of my problem down to the Protein shakes. I am good until I start drinking them........
Cumin is next on the list.
