I'm looking to detox and found a fasting diet in "Prescription for Nutritional Healing."
It consists of two days of preparation by eating only raw veggies and fruits. Then on the fast, steam-distilled water, and pure freshly-made veggie, some fruit, juices (diluted with water). Then two days of raw fruit and veggies to come out of it. I'm not doing it to lose weight; I don't mind the muscle loss. Any input? |

You don't mind the muscle loss? :(
I agree that we all need to eat more fruits and veggies but I'm 100% against eating ONLY fruit and veggies.... Even for a short time! -------------- - Nina :o) Les Victoires éternelles sont celles du coeur. www.nme-pro.com |

when done properly, fasting can help cleanse the colon, which will allow for proper digestion and vitamin/mineral absorption. just do more research.
good luck! :) |

nikkilind - try having a liitle lamb with your veggies - it is suppposed to be the least allergenic and okay on cleansing type diets.
What are you detoxing from? you may want tp look at taking some digestive enzymes with your meals to help yopu absorb nutrients. The fit lifestyle is cleansing in and of itself - you should be eating plenty of fresh veggies, lean protein and drinking lots of water. You are sweating it out when exercising, also bringing extra oxygen and nutrients to all of your cells with increased blood flow from the exercise. You should always be concerned with muscle loss, it will slow your metabolism and back-fire on you. -------------- Vitality shows not only in the ability to persist but the ability to start over. - F. Just my 2-bits (as usual...)
A friend of mine who has an intestinal/colo-rectal disease has been advised by her GP and specialists that colon cleansing is NOT good for anyone, especially her. All have recommended a regular healthy diet to "keep things moving". Moving things faster doesn't sole anything. When eating a healthy/clean diet food is moved throught your system at a rate that allows for nutrient and water absorption. E. |

Hmmm very interesting. I was detoxing before eating better is all. I think I'll take asimmer's advice (she's obviously living proof of a good lifestlye) and continue eating clean. I didn't thing about that simply helping you "detox."-------------- The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own. - Benjamin Disraeli |

Well, if this will help I found a very good fasting detox program and it's called the Salt Water Flush & Lemonade Diet and I lost several inches in my waist, neck, bust, thighs, arms, and hips. The recipe consists of this: Salt Water= 2qts or 64oz of distilled water per day ( 10oz glass), 1 Level Tsp of Natural Salt from herbal store per 10oz glass, 2tbsp of fresh lemon juice for taste offset purposes only. Then the Lemonade Diet consists of: 60oz. water per day (10oz per glass), 12tbsp of Grade B Maple Syrup from Herbal store(2tbsp per glass),12tbsp of fresh lemon juice (2tbsp per glass), A little over half of a tsp of cayenne pepper (1/10 or a pinch per glass)
Make sure NO SOLID FOODS!! For 7-10 days or longer( your choice but no less than 7 days) Hope it works for you too I have to start all back over I messed up! |

i'm not an expert but i don't think that this 'flush and lemonade diet' is a good idea...no solid foods for at least 7 days? no wonder you lost weight....-------------- Kristi There are no endings, only new beginnings |

I agree that the fasting diet listed is not healthy. Where do people come up with these things. |
