It's different for everyone. However, I believe it starts at below 10%.

it can be as low as 6-8% for some.

I can see mine and currently I am 11-12% bf.

Ok rookie here...I am 5 8 and over the past year and a half gone from 185 to about 150. I really dont think I need to lose anymore weight. But my body still seems fat. Especially around my gut. I diet,exersize and lift weights. What can I do different to start seeing more muscle and less fat??

It's not necessarily the bodyweight that determines being able to see your ab muscles. First, you have to work them. Then, you have to diet. Your particular diet may not be enough for your muscles to show through.
