I just got back from the Natural Products Expo in DC and we went to a seminar put on by the FDA next on the chopping block to ban is Yohimbe and bitter orange. Yes they still have concerns over creatine. Senator Durbin submitted a bill last year I think S:722 that would regulate any nutritional supplement to a precription type level. I will try to post his proposed bill when i find it again. I think it got shot down but nevertheless he and others continue to push for legislation to regulate the products you buy in stores. GMP certification for manufacturing facilities I think is a good idea we are constantly dishing out more dollars to get our facilities up to GMP standards I cant speak for others either way all of us in this industry have to be GMP certified by 2006. Its the banning of prohormones and many other products that are to come that really concerns our industry and should concern you the user of these products.

Not yet, the bill did pass but is sitting on the pres's desk waiting to be signed. May not be till some time in January.

Quoting from tmann98c06:

As far as the FDA, they have been after our supplements for a very long time, many years. Greedy companies and bad manufacturing have finally given them a foothold they have long sought after. It is a shame, folks need to educate themselves, and this wouldn't happen.

No, once you buy them, they are yours. They will only be illegal to sell. If you like PH's, it may be a good time to stock up now.

perhaps regulating junk food may be a better idea...where out country won't have 2/3 of population overweight and 1/3 obese...it's a joke...anything taken to an extreme is dangerous...why not educate people instead...

I don't know if anyone is aware, but Interstate Bakery, the company that makes the wonderful Twinkie and Ho Ho has filed for bankruptcy!! Great news!

In case anyone was wondering, what is so bad about Ding Dongs and Twinkies???, take a look at what is in them...

Enriched wheat flour (flour that's been bleached, starched and de-
nutritionized)
Sugar (self-explanatory)
Corn syrup (more sugar)
High-fructose corn syrup (more sugar yet)
Partially hydrogenated soybean, cottonseed, or canola oil (trans-
fats)
Dextrose (even more sugar)
Modified cornstarch (glucose polymers — more simple sugars)
Cornstarch (Yay! More sugar!)
Corn flour (refined to worthlessness, of course)
Corn syrup solids (you guessed it — another type of sugar)
Dextrin (a starch/sugar hybrid)

Wow, that's 8 different kinds of sugar, three kinds of starch, and a dollop of killer trans-fats. Yum! The other 17 ingredients are largely preservatives and colorings. I could only find four ingredients on the whole list that were at least somewhat good for you: Eggs, whey, salt and water

BB1fit-
All the prohormones and compounds listed in the HR:3866 bill will be considered a Schedule 3 controlled substance which is a felony to posess they are on the same category lines as cocaine and heroin as well as tradtional anabolic steroids. You are correct the president has not signed the bill but when he does and we all know he will because he was he one to push congress to draft this bill the industry will have a 90 day grace period as described in the bill so we are looking for around January 10-15th for the substances to be banned.

And if there is flavoring added to the list of ingredients, there wouldn't be enough room on the packaging to list the ingredients that make the flavour.

Commercial bakeries are going crazy to find ways to replace lost profits on "white bread" due to buyers becoming more educated.
