If you're nauseated or feeling a bit weak, I would not go.

If you have a fever, do not workout. The only thing a cold will do is just p!$$ you off. Its true: Working will speed your recovery. But you MUST drink plenty of fluids and continue to eat according to your diet or it can take longer to recover from the cold. Take your Vitamin C (500mg at least 2x a day) and glutamine (5g after workout and 5g immediately before bed) - these will help with fighting the cold virus by 'beefing up' your immune system.

dont go. when you bust your butt in the gym, one of the things that gets hit hardest is your immunity system. if you go to the gym before you're better, all you'll be doing is setting your progress back. let your body recover, and then go hit it.

ANd if you still force yourself to heavy work out, your recovering will just last longer.......

Your gym has a sauna? Jump in there and it'll boost your immune system!!!

I decided to go and just do lite workout,
I couldn't do what i normally do... my squatting was
not great I couldn't do my last set.
But I felt somehow better, my congestion, cleared up,
while working out, but a night was kinda back to the way it was
. I agree that it takes time to recover.
thank you all...

Rule of thumb I learned, if it is above your neck, go ahead and do something, maybe not your most strenuous workout, but if it is below the neck, rest. More beneficial. Try to take in some good solid protein sources with high amino content, and you will be all the trimmer. Good luck. Getting sick sucks!!!

For future reference, here's an article I read about 5 years ago when I was in college and had to decide whether or not to workout:

http://www.physsportsmed.com/issues/1996/01_96/primospa.htm

I did have another more recent article from a University study (I think from Cornell) about the effects of excercise on the immune system when you're sick, but I can't find it.
