I've been on somewhat of a rampage lately by setting a few new personal records. I've been trying to squat over 400 for about a week and a half now; all attempts have been unsuccessful. FINALLY, this morning I hit 405!!! One rep and that's all. It was a pretty good rep; nice and deep, thighs parallel to the floor. I tried it again for one more rep on the next set and I leaned too far forward and couldn't complete the rep. 405 is very good for me since I have long (skinny) legs. -------------- --JBennett "I've up-ed my intensity.... now up yours!" Great job JB, you and Mutt are going nuts with these PR's lately. You gotta be loving that. I have been PRing with legs lately, but I can't lift arms due to a torn muscle, and I've been somewhat down because of it, but a good PR on squats always cheers me up quite a bit.-------------- Strength does not come from physical capacity. Way to go JB, I know that the hack squat machine is obviously easier than the real barbell squat. But with the freeweight hack squat machine in my gym I just recently squated 950 lbs for 2 reps. And just like you my legs are decently thin at 6'2", 205 lbs. Keep up the good work!

since we r takling about squat max-outs, im 16, 6'2", 240 lb. I dont max out on squat cuz i dont want to hurt my self or bust my knees. But i rep out 325 or 335 for a good 3, 4 or maybe 5 on one of them good days. Those r nice deep parallel reps. Im goin to college for shot put next year and the schools recruitin me wanna know how much i max on squat. How much do you gusy think i could max for a nice one rep?

Vrey cool JB, keep inspiring everyone else by challenging yourself!
And I must say it is nice that you do a 'real' rep, instead of those little 1/4 squats I see guys doing with too much weight on the bar... |

JB! Congrats! I 'thought' I was doing well. I squat 212lbs (2 sets of 10 reps each). I'd like to hear from some women what the average is. Big J, Stan... excellent too. JB it is such a 'pump' to reach a goal! Congrats again! -------------- Believe it, be it!! |

tsheff1,
I work with women's throwers here at the University of Florida. We average 365 for a single. Our top single is 415. One of our red-shirt freshman, whom weighs 157 lbs, did a deep set of 5 with 320 yesterday. One of our juniors did a set of 5 with 355. One of our seniors did a set of 5 with 375. |
