Hello to everyone. This is a great site. I'm 5'7" and 240 lbs on a big frame. My target is to get down to at least 210 if my body will let me. The last time I worked out was in high school about 12 years ago and all I ended up with was more muscled which made me weigh more. That was fine but when I stopped working out the fat came back and now I'm even larger. Since I need as much help as I can get does anybody have a comment on the fat burners like Hydroxycut from muscletech? Wal-mart sells 58 capsule bottles for 15 bucks. But at the rate your supposed to be taking them I'll be buying 4-5 bottles a month. That's 60 bucks that could go toward my FT Pro account upgrade right? Thanks for everyones help in advance.

Welcome to the site.
Save your $$$ and adjust your diet. The pills don't work as well as the marketing for them. Do some resistance training, cardio, and you will see the results.

Glad you are here with us. Carivan gave you some excellent starting advice. May not be what you wanted to hear, but unfortunately there is no "easy" way to do it like the commercials show. Again, welcome to our site.

Thanks for your responses. I really like all the advice everyone has to give. My diet will definitely have to stop including drive-thru :) I didn't think the pills would do much but I knew you guys would definitely have the answer. As far as cardio goes, I have an entire gymnasium (weight room and aerobics room included) to myself whenever I go workout. Just got lucky because of where I work. Anyway my cardio will mainly consist of chasing a basketball around while attempting to make a few baskets. I'm a pretty horrible shot so I'll get plenty of running around done. Once the treadmill gets installed this week I'll be on it instead. Should cardio go before or after resistance? I figure it wouldn't hurt to do it before AND after. I just like to get warmed up before lifting anything heavy.

Hi, I figured it was time to go about this wieght loss thing the right way, changing my lifestyle. I am at risk for developing diabetes in the future, due to family history and having gestational diabetes during my last pregnancy. The doctors say eat healthy and keep your wieght down is a good start for prevention.
I am 165lbs, 5'3" married mother of two. I hope with the information and support of freetrainers.com I will be able to bring down the wieght, and live a long and happy life.
:)

Most of the suggestions you will see regarding weight loss vs muscle gain all suggest that high reps with low weight = tone and weight loss, while low reps with heavy weights = muscle gain. If you are trying to lose weight and build definition, stick with low weights and do lots of reps for a while. Has been working for me so far :)
