I start my program today, and i'm not sure what amount of weight to start with. Ifrequently use weights when at the gym-but i have done my #reps/sets differently than how its being laid out for me in the program. today is legs: leg extensions: recommended- set 1 w/16 reps, 2nd w/14 reps, 3rd w/12 reps and final w/14 steps. single leg curls: respectively 16,14,12 &12. I usually did just 3 sets of 10...so not sure what to do since i'm not only supposed to perform more reps, but also more sets.:(:dumbbell:

As you progress, you'll find that the reps come back down to what you're used to. As for the weight, it's literally trial and error. Just keep adjusting the weight till you can hit the target reps.

well i went to the rec. tonight to give it a try. I think I may have to adjust the weight a little- I selected a weight for my leg extensions for which i could only complete 12 max reps...and for leg curls i could only do 14 as m max vs the target 16.--change the weight?

What I always recommend to anyone just starting out and unsure of rep ranges, is for muscle gain and fat loss, pick a weight that you can do for 6-8 repetitions. Once you can do 12-14 reps, increase the weight. This way, not only are weights easier to pick out, but you are constantly varying the rep range, as well as progressively overloading the weight.
