Hi all! I'm new to the site, and so far what I've seen has been great.
I guess I can give you all an idea of who I am and why I am here. I'm a 20 year old college student and work as a waitress to pay the bills. I have been pretty much sedentary for the majority of my life, preferring to read or watch tv than go out and take a walk. Over the last month I have started working out at the local YMCA and am trying to lose weight as well as gain muscle to get that "toned" look. I am currently around 140 lbs and am 5'4" tall. My problem area is my mid-section seeing as that is where I carry most of my weight.
The reason for my desire to lose weight is not simply because of vanity. I am also concerned for my health, as I have read that those who carry most of their weight around the middle have an increased risk of heart problems.
That being said, I am open to suggestions of any kind, so feel free to offer me any that you feel would be helpful!
