Well, I've started my first week of weight training and I’m sadly disappointed in my performance.

About 2/3 way through my routine I started getting dizzy and had to stop. I can only guess that this is cuz I’m so dagone out of shape and that this will go away in time.

Can anyone give any insight into how I should proceed?

As it stands I'll continue my schedule but if I get dizzy then I’m done for the day or at least the morning until I can recover a little.

Are you drinking enough water????Dehydration will cause dizzy spells...and are you eating enough???I believe you are right to stop your workout if you feel dizzy...I'm sure there is a reason for your dizzy spells...are you breathing correctly???If your holding your breath...that could be a problem too...I'm sure there is a reason for the dizzyness...not just being out of shape.

I love carrot cake, but one should not make a meal of it. You need to eat more. Way more. Five or six smaller meals a day to get your caloric intake. Remember, you are using a whack of energy to workout, and if your body isn't prepared for that, it won't make it.

Check out the Diet Forum. Grad the Grocery List, fill your shopping cart with it and eat up.

Oh yeah...you're the 15 yo...married with kids in college!!!:)...your carrot cake for dinner is my kinda dinner....so that is defineatly not right...your diet stinks...but you already know that...so now you have to try and fix it...you won't fix it all at one time...but at the very least don't skip meals...even though you're not eating healthy...it may not be enough calories. And for me...gatorade isn't water...is that all you drink throughout the day???I think if you fix your diet...eat some small healthy snacks and start drinking more water...less gatorade(which is full of sugar and salt by the way)your dizzy spells will ease up.Look at the healthy foods list...try and incorporate more foods into your diet, and drink more water and less gatorade(did I mention that:))You will start to feel alot better...I promise...don't give up...and let us know how it goes!!!

Start by eating healthy food, perhaps you should see your doctor and get clearence for what you are doing. Whats with all the Gatorade? That is full of sodium and potassium in order for one not to cramp up. You must get rid of the processed foods in your diet. Definately see the doc about the dizzy spells if they continue. Usually one would get dizzy the first couple of times on the treadmill if they didn't cool down.

Well, I’m eating better and I feel great.

Thanks for all of y'alls help!

My diet looks a little like this:

Muscle Milk (Chocolate) pre workout
Cliff Bar Post workout
Chicken Salad, Chips & Milk - Lunch
Cliff Bar - Linner
Smoked pork loin w/ coleslaw, tater salad & baked beans - Diner
Popcorn (no Butter w/ lite salt - snack

Today was a chest & Bi's day so my schedule looked like:

Incline Bench
Decline Bench
Flat Bench
Seated DB Curls
Standing BB Curls
Preacher Curls
Mowing
the lawn
1 mile jog / walk for lunch
Stretching throughout the day.

I know that its not perfect but I have to say that I feel 100% better and I can already see an improvement.

Any suggestions?

You are 15? And married? I just read your profile I am confused as to what and who you are lOL. One: what is you goal (add mass, strength, weight loss) what? Two: Food wise very low in protein and rather higher in carbs.
Three:how long have youbeen training?

Blood sugars can drop drastically when undertaking a hard workout, and a hard workout can be defined differently according to your physical capabilities.

Adequate diet will play a huge roll....

I've been working out for about 2 weeks now.

No, Im 34 and VERY happily married.

My goal is to add Mass & Strength then to Cut down a little.

Im about 217 @ 6ft tall and I have this swelling around the middle of my belly that I'm trying to get under controll.

When my wife and I first got married I was in prety good shape and I'd walk across the bedroom and flex, just to be funny. Well about a month ago I was walking across the badroom and I stuck out my belly, just to be funny. That was the last straw...

I'll try to go to the Dr. to see if she can tell me what my BF% is cuz I reall can even tell ya.

Im trying to take in as much protien as possible but is not easy. I can only eat so much and to be honest some where I learned that if I eat less I'd loose weight so the idea of trying to get healthier and eating more food is a little hard to get into the brain housing group.

Im working on it. My wife says that she already sees and improvment and I have to say that I do feel pretty good already.

Thanks again for the input, it really helps me stay on track...

That is a common myth that to lose you need to drastically cut calories. Truth is that you DO need to have less calories but not as low as you would think. Most guys and this is a ave take in about 1900-2500 depending on what they are wanting to do. I suggest ( learned a lot from BB1fit and Asimmer and others), that you track you calories each day. I use fitday.com but there are many others out there. Be honest if you eat 4 slices of pizza add that in. You need to really see what you are eating and how much. Losing weight is easy for the most part. Take in less than you burn off. But the real trick is to balance it so you are eating enough to live on and not starve, and of the right things. I thought that I was eating 2500cals. In reality after listening to some on the site i tracked it and found I was eating 4000+. So track the cals and see where you stand.

Have you had your blood pressure checked? Getting dizzy after squats and lunges can mean your body isn't handling the change in blood pressure.

Goo djob improving your diet, it takes time. remember this is a journey, not a race and just keep making little improvements.

If the dizziness continues, see your doctor about blood pressure and perhaps blood sugar - type 2 diabetes can happen to anyone who is overweight/out-of-shape and most people would never suspect they have it, they just have odd symptoms.

Im not getitng dizzy any more, the increased number of smaller meals did the trick. Now its just a matter of staying with the program. Today was a rest day to it was easy. Tomorrow on the other hand will be an upper body pull day so I'm looking at Back and Tri's. Beleive it or not this is one of my favorite days cuz I just like the excercises...

I still want to get my body fat checked so I can mark my improvments, I'll also get my cholesterol checked as well while I'm at it. Anything else that I should get looked at?

As for Diabetes, it runs in my family so I wouldnt be suprised. I'll pray that I dont have it though...
