Hi... I have heard from many of my friends and people at the gym that if you do not follow a steady program you will not get anywhere... I did the 12 week muscle mass program, and the abb program... I had good results, and now I make my own programs based on my own experience etc. I basically follow the 12 week program, but i change things around like muscle groups and different types of excersises... I pyramid train anywhere from 20-6 , 15-4, anything as long as i increase wheight and drop reps... I was wondering if i should look for a program to follow, or if what i am doing will work... I generally know what i am doing, and i would also like to know if trying different types of excersises for the same muscle group is good, or if you should do the same thing week after week and then change your routine monthly...? I know this question is a pain, i just cannot find an answer anywhere, and so many people tell me different things... Thanks in advance...

Like Sandysford says "If it works for you, DO IT"
Also if you are adding in a few different exercises to replace the certain ones for the same muscle group like you said, that is a bonus because what you are actually doing is shocking your muscles. Muscles have memory and get used to the movements. Its good though to keep track of your routine that way you know where you are.
Btw i am doing an 8 wk prgrm (pyramid)and every week there is some substitute exersises.

I heard somewhere its not true what they say about ur muscle having memory and getting used to the movements. When u think about it, if u keep adding resistance, ur muscle is going to grow no matter what. Your muscle isnt gunna say, "wow i did this excercise already, i better not repair myself and grow!" so it makes sense to me.

ericb, check out www.t-mag.com for some workouts. What are ur goals, maybe i could find good ones for them...
