OK so maybe this is a question that has been asked before, but couldn't find an answer through the search. I'm going to be out of the house a lot starting in a couple of weeks, so I wanted to carry food with me in a cooler. How long does food last in a cooler? Can I get through 12 hours eating food from a cooler and not get sick? Any suggestions on good foods to put in a cooler? Anybody out there? =)

Well I keep all my food in a cooler for 8-10 hours I have chicken, tuna, cheese, eggs you know things that can spoil and I have never gotten sick. I put in ice pack you can refreeze and reuse. One or two of those and it keeps the food cold. Make sure the cooler is insulated to keep things cool and I would not really leave it in a car in the sue etc if you can help it.

Not a problem I find it much easier even though we have refridgators (spelled wrong Iknow) Here at work. One reason is that it is easier to eat with out having to get up and run all the way to the break room (I work in a large buliding). Two is that there is never enough room for the size cooler I have (haha it is much larger than everyones). Third is that a year or so ago we had a co worker that would open you lunch and take bites out of sandwhiches, eat half a cup of yogurt etc. So I keep it close.

What's sad is that I know plenty of workplaces where people eat other people's food. What is up with that? Anybody want to confess to eating other people's lunches and maybe help me to understand the mentality of such a person?

I have no clue.
LOL, I bring protein bars and protein powder to work. No one has stolen them yet. hmmmmmmmmmm
Where I work it is a big probability your lunch will disappear.

The ice packs work great and economical too.

A few years ago I had this problem my lunches disapeared with out a trace. I solved the problem with a Tuna sandwhich loaded with metamucill not only did I find the culprett every one else in cluding myself has not lost a lunch since. I think that is a pretty low thing taking someone elses lunch that is.

I've even had my pre-made shakes taken a couple of times. I solved that by not adding the flax seed oil till the end so it just kind of sat on top. Nobody messes with them anymore.

OK.
It's time for me to come clean.
I am the one who has been eating everyone's lunch.
Mutt, the sandwiches and yogurt were deeeeeeeelicious.
Sempai, I'm still pissed about the metamucil. I had to throw away several pairs of underwear. Thanks a lot.
Mike, you've saved me a ton of money on shakes!
I have been getting some counceling and am improving.

If you use ice and keep your food wraped and or in sep containers, your food will last just as long as in the fridge. Also keep the cooler clean.
Use your own taste buds to double check, if it taste spoiled dont eat eat it.

I'll leave for a wedding this weekend and I'll need to take my own food with me (since I eat like a martian!!).
Okey, I'll take empty shakers with the protein powder (so I only need to put water), protein bars, nuts and egg whites but I don't really think that I'll be able to get a real meal before the others at around 10-11pm Saturday night (the French people often eat late).

I'll be sooooo hungry lol but it's the wedding of some very good friends so I better keep on the smile (and avoid chewing too much...)!!!
