Hi
I am playing football this year and my coach told me that I have some of the best hands he's seen in a long time and that I could really become an allstar if I become faster. Does anyone know if I should stop weightlifting and just start sprinting. Or if I should do both? What kind of routine should I do anyway as the season has started already and I don't want to go overboard.

Any helpw ould be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do both. Also throw some plyometrics in there to help with your quickness. Lift heavy during the week and make sure you dont lift within 48 hours of your games, and you should be fine. Also if you are young, just plain growing up will make you faster. Fill out your profile, and that will help others help you.

Alien, I played highschool football as well. What our strenght coach did for us was work on our explosiveness. As a receiver or DB, your first step is huge. We did cling n jerks to help with that explosive first step. Then work on agility to help with your cuts. There are 2 types of recievers, those with just crazy speed, which if you aren't born with is very difficult to attain, and those with good moves, good cuts, and a good first step. If you aren't already running 4.2 40s, I'd look to work on your cutting and explosiveness first, especially if you are looking to improve this season.
