i was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this exercise and if so could you please explain to me how it is performed.

Uhhmmm what French press? lol Bench press? or French kisses?!!! No, sorry Thaw I'm living in France but I don't know this one, maybe somebody else in here is more clever to give you a decent answer.

French press is just an other name for seated or standing triceps extension

I agree with denisp. Some guys in my gym also call them french presses.
